Sacred Listening
Sometimes life gets busy.
Overwhelm sets in and paralyzes.
Instead of getting everything “done” nothing seems to get done.
The space seems so expansive too much to fill up.
Fear sets in
“You can’t do this” cry the gremlins of self-doubt.
Self doubt becomes a fog that blurs reality and stops movement – in any direction.
To lift the fog one needs only to trust in self and that the answers are indeed within.
Not always so easy after years of thinking otherwise.
Are you listening?
Can you hear that voice from within?
No not the one that pretends to be yours- that discourages, ridicules, and holds you back. Not those ones.
Can you hear the voice of joy, the child, the muse, the excited voice that encourages, soothes and gently nudges you toward your creative dreams?
She is there, inside. Trust that sacred creative fire is burning within. It may need some air to help it burn brighter. It may have been smoldering under the weight of the self-doubters. Though the light may be dim at times, it is not out.
When I give myself the space and time, the voice of my muse is stronger. I notice more, outside of myself too, the beauty in the day-to-day, the mystery and sacredness of life.
I went on a trip this past weekend to a very small island which we explored by bicycle.
Old buildings, old rocks, and quiet nature soothing our souls. I took many pictures which captured just an inkling of the beauty I was exposed to.
These sparked that inner fire of creativity, reminding me it was still there ready and waiting for my next artistic expression -but most importantly, I listened.
