Making room for the New Year
This past weekend had me purging lots of stuff from the house as we get ready for the winter season almost upon us. Giving away outgrown toys to the neighbours and the local charity as well as other things we no longer have the need for. My clutter, someone else’s treasure. There is something about this time of year that I find I always like to make more space within my home.
Perhaps it is because I will be spending more time in doors and know that too much clutter will interfere with the quiet that I seek this time of year. There is a need within me to make more space for creative flow.
My creativity emerges as a re-decorating of my space. I like to shift things around, get rid of the stale, and downsize my clutter. When I do this I not only create comfortable space for enjoyment and rest, but also I create head space. Room for more creativity within.
I tend to look within on my internal canvas, taking in the blank spaces, the shapes have already begun to form. It is my time to see what tweaks need to be made, visions painted. My drive to rearrange my home environment reflects this need for change. New perspectives gently uncovered in preparation for the New Year.
Less than a month away we will enter the New Year, and although it is just a date, it’s significance can’t be underestimated. The New Year symbolizes new beginnings, a time to shed the old and set personal goals for the year. While it’s true that you can set goals any time of the year, adding or subtracting goals as your life transforms through the year. Setting goals for the New Year can carry a lot of transformational weight especially when in the company of others who are committing to personal transformation through intentions.
My intentions this year are to have more fun, when working and not. Though I already have a lot of fun with the creative side of my business, the left brain side of my business sometimes drags me down. I’m still learning by trial and error how to maintain my creativity while sustaining my online practice.
This week I will be sitting down to explore, ponder, this past year as well as discovering my new path for 2013. Using collage, mandala making and journaling, I will quietly delve into my inner canvas. I am eager for the new, yet know the importance of acknowledging the path I have taken so far.
What helps you to settle into your intentions for the New Year?
