Letting Go . . .
Last summer I made a video (for my OffbeatFamily site) addressing the idea of letting go on many different levels.
Both children and adults have difficulty letting go of hurt feelings, possessions, the need to be right, the need to know. You get the picture. Letting go can be a tricky task.
Sometimes it’s difficult to let go of the past. It seems to cling like wet sand. The more you try to wash the sand away while standing there on the beach, the more sand you attract. The more resistence put up, the greater the force to stay. The energy put into pushing something away ends up keeping it closer.
Past memories, past hurts, “forgotten” dreams, “shoulds” and “should haves”. We beat ourselves up emotionally about these things that have happened or worse, haven’t happened. We put expectations on ourselves to just let go cold turkey, forgetting that sometimes we have to wait for the sand on our feet to dry and fall off. Patience is a virtue afterall.
We have to wait until we are ready. Ready?
Doing the same thing will only lead us in the same direction. Sometimes we need to shake things up, and “do” a little more for things to shift. Then shift happens! Boy does it ever happen.
There is a fine balance between allowing and doing for the letting go to happen. We have to loosen up first.
It may be that we need to let go of our beliefs about ourselves that hold us back from moving forward. Or perhaps it is allowing the space and the room for new beliefs and perspectives to take root. It’s all a dance; moving from releasing to expansion to contraction back within. A dance worth dancing by far!
To me this dance of expression encompasses a world of possibilities and adventures. It is the dance of the paint across a fresh piece of paper, unpredictable but exciting just the same. As the paint makes its way onto the paper, inner doors open up and allow me to expand, igniting parts of me formerly in the shadows. Energizing me with their strength.
That is painting with my muse.
That is living.
The journey begins this Friday June 29th. It’s time to paint your way to your self. There are only a few days left to register. Join the adventure!
Registration Closes June 29th 3pm EST get in while you can!
