Gratitude Art: A Free 7 Day Journey
In the beginning of August I asked those in the Virtual Art Circle Facebook group what most interfered with their having art-making time and the response was mainly “not having enough time”. Over the years in my creative work with others this has been an ongoing theme that seems to deter people from creating art on a regular basis for themselves. This is something I often struggle with too, so I get it. I know that giving your Self permission to create is not as easy as it sounds, there are always other things that seem to get in the way, other priorities.
While I was thinking about incorporating more gratitude practices into my own life I had an idea. I had rummaged through my supplies and found some index cards left over from a random acts of kindness challenge I had participated in. What could I do with these? I’ve done gratitude written journals before and find I lose interest in just writing so I thought why not make an index card journal of gratitude art which can incorporate writing and art making.
The essence of . . . all great art is gratitude - Nietzsche Click To TweetIt was with this in mind that I have decided to offer a free journey using gratitude art. You are all invited to join me for a Gratitude Art Journey (I don’t like calling it a challenge, don’t we all deal with enough challenges already?) This is not an all or nothing thing. The invitation is to create gratitude art daily, but if it is less than that, it’s all good. We will begin Friday September 29th for 7 days. My hope is that it will kick-start an arts based gratitude practice as well as motivate you to take some time for yourself to create more regularly.
This is my gift to you.
As time is an issue for me as well I will only be sending out notice to those who subscribe to the Gratitude Art Journey list during those 7 days. Everyone will be invited to share their gratitude art in the Virtual Art Circle if they choose they can. If you are interested in participating and getting the prompts for those 7 days of the Gratitude Art Journey you can sign-up for the Gratitude Art e-mail list here: (you can unsubscribe at any time). Only those who subscribe to the separate list will get the prompts to get you started. I will share some quotes and videos to help reinforce the importance of gratitude in general as a regular practice.
