Finding My Muse
I’m taking in the beauty of others and finding the beauty within
Words resonate
Bathing me with their wisdom
Sparking recognition in what I can offer
Sparking, igniting, that creative flame inside
I use to write in my journal, my diary. I would go into coffee shops and bury myself in books as I absorbed thier words through eyes wide open, eager to learn from without. I’d journal my thoughts and feelings on philosophies read, not realizing that within there lurked my own treasure of meaning, of pondering. Not realizing that my muse was not outside of myself but within. Waiting ever so quietly, patiently until I was ready to hear her. Then one day she spoke: a whisper at first, faintly drawing my attention to the message of self-worth. The more and more I paid attention to her meek voice the louder and stronger it became. Until I could no longer ignore it. Until I had no choice but to acknowledge her wisdom MY wisdom and the reality that we are all holding this wisdom inside.
Did you hear that? Reality is, we are all holding this wisdom inside.
Try this mantra: ” I hold the wisdom inside“.
There are many ways to get to this wisdom, many of them you probably already know and practice. Some with intention. Some just happen naturally and you don’t notice how they came into being born of you.
Sometimes you attribute these “aha” moments to someone or something else rather than yourself. Like when you read something in a book and say to yourself “that makes sense” or “what a good idea”, and walk away thinking that you have learned something new. Forgetting that you already knew IT, but just needed reminding.
What has happened that you have forgotten to trust your Self, your abilities? What has blocked you from seeing the treasures within? What needs to happen for you to open your eyes and arms to your Self, your wisdom?
I don’t have the answer. There is not only one. The only “one size fits all” solution is as complex as it is simple: self-love. The “how” is yours to discover in any way you wish.
Your muse can help. You just need to call on her/him . Here are some ways to bring your muse out:
- Play
- Laugh
- Muck about with art supplies
- dance
- Walk in nature
- Hummmmmmmmmm. The resonating sounds of humming can be quite beautiful, and may just evoke your Muse out of hiding
- Write letters to your muse, telling her/him you miss her/him
- Have a tea party with your muse I’m not kidding! Write up an invite for tea, leave it on your pillow, serve tea for two and have a chat with your Muse: (which may sound something like)”You know Muse I really could use you around a little more……” Be sure you don’t whine too much or your Muse will recoil. Tell your Muse all the wonderful things you like and miss about her/him instead.
Whatever you choose to do, do it knowing you are making the right choice for yourself and this point in time. You are where you need to be. You have what you need to be.
You are living art.
